Stakeholders engaged on the implementation of the Electronic Single Window System in Guyana

On Wednesday, the government organized a sensitization meeting at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre to discuss the implementation of an electronic single window platform for trade in Guyana with stakeholders from both the private and public sectors, as well as other interested parties. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which is providing the funding for the program, is partnering with the government to implement the platform that will revolutionize the way business is conducted in Guyana and enhance citizens' engagement with government agencies. According to Senior Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, “The modern Guyana cannot be one that does not include a complete re-engineering of the manner in which government agencies deliver services.” To concur, Minister Oneidge Walrond attached to the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, added, “The single window for trade is one of the most significant projects that is being undertaken by this government … it is intended to transform for the better, the process of importing and exporting into and from Guyana, respectively.” Lorena Solórzano Salazar, the IDB representative to Guyana, extended congratulations to the Government of Guyana for advancing the project, which will soon be implemented by CrimsonLogic Panama Inc. At the event, she commended the Government of Guyana, the private sector, and the civil society for their collaborative efforts in implementing the project and highlighted the clear advantages of having an electronic single window. She urged all stakeholders to embrace the latest technology, revised processes, and innovations in order to reap the benefits of the platform.
