Over 60 loggers engaged in business seminar in Kwakwani

On Wednesday, 63 loggers in the Kwakwani district of Region 10, Upper Demerara-Berbice, were the recipients of a personalised business seminar: Six Steps to a Better Business. This collaborative effort between the Loggers Association of Kwakwani and ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc., facilitated the integration of business knowledge imparted through a step-by-step approach that identifies strategies for existing, successful businesses to leverage to the next level of growth and create consistent cash flow. Six Steps to a Better Business teaches participants how to work on a business rather than 'in' a business, reframe advertising and marketing into investments rather than expenses, leveraging time to maximise efficiency and profits, as well as how to recruit, motivate, educate, and retain exceptional employees. In coaching the loggers on how to accelerate their businesses, Director of Coaching Keon Smith, a certified business coach under the ActionCOACH franchise. At the end of the session, participants were informed of the HerVenture mobile-learning app, geared towards empowering female entrepreneurs and bettering their businesses. The women entrepreneurs present were very intrigued to learn of the programme's learning modules offered on business resilience, digital marketing and e-commerce. Offered in partnership by the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women London, and ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc., the participants were enthused to hear of the capacity for greater business success for women across the country, bringing huge benefits to families, local communities and the economy, and ultimately helping to close the economic gender gap - all outcomes of the training. In closing, the President of the Upper Berbice Forest and Agricultural Producers Association, Derick Daniels gave a heart warming speech, reiterating the quality of knowledge earned from the seminar, and encouraged the recipients to stay motivated and disciplined.
