Mr. Kestor Hutson, President of GCCI

The steady expansion of Guyana’s business sector due to the country’s massive economic growth has given rise to a pertinent need for instruments that guide business leaders, both local and foreign, in their navigation of Guyana’s evolving business landscape.

This is especially important in the current setting where foreign investors are continually encouraged to forge valuable partnerships and collaborations with local businesses to capitalise on this economic expansion for the benefit of all. In this regard, avenues that enterprises can turn to for essential information serve an important role in our new private sector dispensation.

With the Who’s Who in Guyana Business Directory being one of the business publications in Guyana that provides useful information on the local business sector the magazine performs a beneficial service. In addition to being a platform for business information, the publication also provides a marketing space for local businesses.

On behalf of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), I wish to commend the fifth publication of the Who’s Who In Guyana Business Directory. In our new business environment access to information is key as investors and businesses seek to form strategic alliances both between foreign and local businesses as well as amongst local businesses.

As Guyanese economise on benefiting from our patrimony, indeed strategic partnerships are now at the heart of the building out of Guyana’s economy. Here at the GCCI we continue to champion the endless opportunities and benefits to be gained from partnerships, alliances, formation of joint ventures, and creation of consortiums. Through collaborations, businesses are afforded the opportunity to build their brand, and improve the quality of our locally produced goods and service through shared resources. Through partnerships we are able to scale up instead of scaling across.

The exponential rate of Guyana’s economic growth requires an all hands on deck approach from both Guyana’s private and public sector. We must work together for the maximal benefit of our endowment. Here at the Chamber we have also placed much focus on collaborations, which has resulted in multiple engagements with international companies, and with our local chambers to ensure we fully economize on the advantage of our combined energies.

As a business support organisation we continue to work with stakeholders such as the government, international companies and the diplomatic community and cooperate to create opportunities for businesses, and foster better relationships to develop improved business acumen.
