Hundreds of contracts to be awarded by Ministry of Housing within two weeks

The configuration of infrastructure developments has led hundreds of opportunities to be taken advantage of at the cusp of the construction boom, of which in the next two weeks, new projects are to be awarded. This is according to Minister of Housing and Water, Colin Croal on Monday, upon which he stated that the Ministry was successful in completing the tender and evaluation process. In addition to the projects underway, Minister Croal reiterated that infrastructural works are still ongoing, and are slated to be complete mid to end-of-year. Of these, most anticipated is the Eccles to Diamond four-lane highway and the Eccles Industrial Site Access road. The Eccles project’s implementation is being done throughout a phased strategy, where different contractors are responsible for execution of varying areas of construction development. With this, Minister Croal stated, “About $1.2 billion is being spent on that area…All works are expected to be completed by the end of next month. We have gone a far way.” As laid out in the 2023 National Budget, Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, conveyed that $54.5 billion is allocated for housing development including the construction of road networks, drains and bridges and the installation of utilities.
