Message by Hon. Oneidge Walrond, M.P, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce

Congratulations to the Who's Who in Guyana Business Directory publishers on producing the fifth edition of the directory. As Guyana remains in the global spotlight, the need for current and reliable information about our nation has become more crucial than ever. Beyond the conventional data of GDP projections and oil production figures, investors are actively seeking information about collaborations and unique partnerships.
In this context, the Who's Who in Guyana Business Directory proves to be an invaluable resource. Its comprehensive coverage of current and relevant information on local companies and related aspects makes it a critical resource in promoting investment opportunities in Guyana, aligning seamlessly with our nation's ongoing developmental pursuits.

Guyana's economy continues to thrive as one of the fastest- growing globally. Our Gross Domestic Product has almost tripled since 2020, and the non-oil sector is poised to experience an impressive growth rate of nearly 8% in 2023. While we accelerate our oil production, we are also witnessing simultaneous growth in our non-oil sectors. The Government's prudent investments in crucial areas like agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, education, and healthcare lay the foundation for a prosperous and sustainable future. We are committed to supporting business expansion and exploring bilateral and international collaborations that benefit our local economy. This focus drives us to implement business-friendly policies with a continued emphasis on improving the ease of doing business.

Our nation is undergoing unprecedented development. Beyond the roads and bridges, massive housing development and ICT expansion, many groundbreaking initiatives are taking shape. Collaborative efforts with countries like India for establishing a Regional Agro-Tech Campus and partnerships to establish an ICT College demonstrate our commitment to building a resilient and sustainable economy and ecosystem.

I remain encouraged by the proactive approach of the private sector in seizing the countless opportunities available. The continuous growth of local businesses and their capacity- building efforts reflect their dedication towards embracing emerging opportunities. I say categorically, that while the government bears the responsibility of creating the enabling environment, it is the private sector that will drive the development. The government continues to place specific emphasis on our relationship with the private sector and to ensure our systems are geared to facilitate investment and expansion.

I commend everyone involved in producing this publication, as it is a commendable undertaking in showcasing the abundant prospects within Guyana's thriving business landscape.
