Guyana to implement a unified electronic transaction system

Guyana's data management system will undergo a transformation as a new project is introduced to consolidate all transactions onto a single electronic card. The electronic system, named the 'one card', will interconnect all transactions such as banking, social benefits, identification, licensing, and taxes onto one platform. President, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali stated to this regard, “This card is going to help force the banking sector, the insurance sector, it’s going to force government. Everybody will now have to migrate to the electronic platform that will support conducting business, bringing efficiency, reducing the cost of doing business, improving transparency, accountability, and advancing a modern governance architecture.” According to the president, the 'one card' system, which has already proven successful in India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will be introduced to Guyana soon with the aid of international partnerships. This advancement is a critical measure to enhance data management and streamline transactions for Guyanese. The project is expected to have a noteworthy impact on the country's development by simplifying the process of accessing services and reducing bureaucracy. Consolidating all transactions onto a single information device will lead to more efficient resource utilization, ultimately improving service delivery. This milestone represents a significant step towards modernizing the country. In addition, The president emphasized that the enhancement in healthcare technology will establish a worldwide patient management information platform, enabling the storage of all health information on the 'one card.' The innovative approach to data management is expected to set a benchmark for other nations to follow.
