Guyana to be represented at top global convention for mining and mineral exploration
PDAC is an eminent mining and mineral exploration conference, widely recognised as a prominent gathering for companies and organisations associated with mineral exploration. Taking place from March 5-8, 2023 this year, the three-day conference presents an excellent platform for Guyana to showcase itself as an alluring investment destination for the mining and mineral exploration industry. The convention attracts over 30,000 participants from more than 130 nations across the globe. PDAC, which has a membership base of more than 6,000 individuals worldwide, primarily focuses on promoting a competitive, responsible, sustainable, and dynamic mineral sector by fostering best practices in technical, operational, environmental, safety, and social performance. Currently, Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn, and representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) are representing Guyana at the annual convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC). In a statement to the Department of Public Information (DPI), Commissioner of GGMC, Newell Dennison, mentioned that Guyana's booth at the exposition and conference provides crucial insights not only into the country's mining sector but also all its natural resources. “The intention of our booth is to provide information on a wide variety of things that would be of interest to potential stakeholders…So, what we have done, is we have done our best to compile key reports available for persons who may never have heard of Guyana before, and may consider investing here… and all of that will be made available through our booth.” Merely a year ago, the mining and quarry industry in Guyana experienced a remarkable growth rate of approximately 109.7%.
