France to develop diplomatic presence and commercial ties with Guyana
France, and several other francophone countries, particularly the regional overseas territories French Guiana, Martinique and Guadeloupe, have expressed interest in Guyana’s trade facilitation measures and wider, shared economic development. Chargé d’Affaires José Gomez, is acting in this capacity to improve the value creation between business-to-business cooperation with Guyana as the emerging oil economy anticipates new infrastructure, green energy and technology. Pierre Sentenac, the Chief of the Economic Department at the French Embassy, posited that France finds Guyana’s tremendous growth in the past three years as commendable, and hopes that the French will continue to support the Guyanese economy as exploratory works within the economic industries are done. In this manner, it is expected that by mid-year 2023, a French delegation may conduct a series of business-to-government and business-to-business meetings. Guyana’s Environmental, Social, and Corporate is aligned with a number of France’s protection measures - maintenance as an industrialised country with the lowest greenhouse gas emissions, and the existing partnership among the French-Guyanese to conserve greenery and the Hinterland.
