Encouragement given to local private sector to engage with EU on business prospects

President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, the President, has urged the local private sector to explore the extensive array of business opportunities that Guyana has to offer by engaging with the European Union (EU). At the EU's celebration of Europe Day on Tuesday evening at the Georgetown Club on Camp Street, the President highlighted that European companies require a wide range of services, such as agricultural, environmental, health, and technological services, and that the private sector in Guyana can benefit greatly by fostering partnerships with the EU and the United Kingdom beyond their borders. President Ali emphasized the EU's role in local development and highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Guyana and the international organization in areas such as climate change and sustainable development. This collaboration is in line with the Guyana-EU relationship, which aims to cooperate in various areas to support the government's commitment to promoting development and enhancing the quality of life of the Guyanese people. Furthermore, the government of Guyana has been engaging with other international organizations to advance the country's developmental agenda, and there is a strong focus on ensuring that young people are included in the nation's transformation. The administration has also made it a priority to introduce new initiatives to enhance women's participation in development. The President has announced plans to launch new initiatives aimed at increasing the involvement of women in the social, economic, and financial transformation of the country. He has specifically requested the design of a project to be led by at least one hundred women that will contribute to the country's infrastructure development. Ambassador Nes has stated further, that the EU-Guyana Business Chamber will be launched soon. The chamber will concentrate on enhancing the relationship between businesses in Guyana and Europe. It will assist European companies that are operating or establishing themselves in Guyana, as well as support Guyanese corporations in navigating the European business environment.
