BVI Trade Delegation Engages in High-Level Talks in Guyana, Aiming for Strengthened Economic Ties and Investment Opportunities

A distinguished 16-member contingent from the British Virgin Islands has ventured into Guyana to forge new avenues of trade, invigorate investments, and foster profound cooperation. This delegation is under the astute guidance of Honourable Lorna Smith, Deputy Premier and Minister for the domains of Financial Services, Labour, and Trade, representing the Government of the British Virgin Islands. This morning, a delegation from the Government of the British Virgin Islands, including the Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour, and Trade, as well as Ms. Petrona Davies, the Permanent Secretary of the Minister for Financial Services, Labour, and Trade, and Dr. Hon. Karl Dawson, the Junior Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, convened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a meeting with Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud. During the meeting, Mr. Persaud conveyed the government's keen interest in fostering investment and strengthening trade relations. He also provided the delegation with updates on the country's recent developments and shared the President's vision for the ongoing transformation of the nation. The Deputy Premier emphasized the vast possibilities for collaboration between Guyana and the British Virgin Islands, leveraging each other's experiences and potentials across various sectors. Notably, the BVI's substantial Guyanese diaspora could serve as a vital bridge, facilitating cultural exchange, trade, and mutual growth between the two nations. By tapping into this diaspora's expertise and connections, both countries can forge even stronger partnerships, fostering economic, social, and cultural development for the benefit of their citizens and beyond.
