British Chamber of Commerce launched to strengthen international ties between UK and Guyana

The British Chamber of Commerce Guyana has been launched to strengthen bilateral partnership to boost trade relations, economic and commercial integration among the nation and the United Kingdom (UK). The formal establishment of BritCham coincided with the 2023 International Energy Conference and Expo at the Marriott Hotel, Georgetown. BritCham Guyana aims to gather members of the business community in order for executives to enjoy sustainable market connections, upon which there will be an open forum for industry stakeholders to deliberate over market trends and issues within the business arena, primarily UK-Guyana trade. Guysons Group Chief Executive Officer and UK/Guyanese citizen, Faizal Khan, chairs BritCham Guyana and the affiliate Steering Group. In addition, BritCham will have the oversight of a board of business executives. Her Excellency UK High Commissioner, Jane Miller OBE, in a written endorsement, stated, “BritCham Guyana offers an opportunity to bring together a rich and diverse network of UK investors, exports, and services with strong governance, world-class standards and experience that complement the ambitions of Guyana’s business community through long-term and sustainable partnerships.” BritCham Guyana has approximately 30 member companies with 50 more companies to be potentially committed to membership. Further, the Chamber is expected to be launched in London, England, and Aberdeen, Scotland in due course.
