Local Content Summit Revitalises, Spotlighting Economic Expansion

The resplendent return of the Local Content Summit today is expected to host a roster of distinguished speakers and promises a day brimming with strategic discourse. This convocation includes policymakers, industry mavens, operational architects, subcontractors, vendors, indigenous entrepreneurs among various stakeholders. This collective, collaborative effort is the result of the amalgamation of MBW Energy Support Services, Prestige Management Consultations, and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Local Content Secretariat. Attendees will engage in a spirited dialogue upon the fulcrum of the Local Content Legislation. This surrounds supply chain networks, procurement, gainful employment opportunities for Guyanese nationals, and the imperative for skills augmentation. The summit's inauguration will be heralded by none other than His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, accompanied by Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mohabir Anil Nandlall, SC; Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat; Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar; and Director of the Local Content Secretariat, Dr. Martin Pertab. Anchored in the ethos of proactive engagement, the Local Content Summit is themed, "Creating Value. Driving Economic Expansion," aimed at sustained economic ascendancy. The advent of the 2021 Local Content Act sought to democratise access to opportunities within the burgeoning oil and gas sector, for the benefit of all Guyanese. Following, the summit lays the foundational tenets of extant local content legislation. To this end, improvements in legislative intent are expected.
